In Florida there are about 20 commercial airports and 70 regional. The main airport is called Orlando International (MCO). This is the busiest in all of Florida and it is located 14 km just south of downtown Orlando. The carriers that fly there are: Aer Lingus from Dublin, British Airways from London, Virgin Atlantic from Glasgow, Gatwick and also Manchester, Lufthansa from Frankfurt plus the majority of the American airlines.
Orlando is one of the most visited parts of Florida because it is the home of Disney World, Sea World, the Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios Resort, and Typhoon Lagoon Park.
Tampa International (TPA), placed on the western coast, is 10km west from the city centre. Many important carriers fly there.
Tampa is popular for the Hillsborough River State Park, Florida Aquarium, Adventure Island, Lowry Park Zoo, and Busch Gardens Africa.
Another very important airport is the Miami International (MIA) that is very busy. You can get there with the Dolphin Expressway or the Palmetto Expressway (from Miami Beach). This is one of the most popular airports but must be avoided if you want fly low cost.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL), on east cost is important too and so is Jacksonville International. If you go there you can also see St. Augustine. If you fly to Florida Panhandle you will end up in Tallahassee, which is the capital of the state. That airport has a lot of connections to all the US airports.
Another top destination is considered Panama City Beach, where students like to go during the spring break. You can have a lot of fun there because the area is full of bars and clubs.
These are some of the most important airports in Florida but some of them must be avoided if you want to find some cheap flights.
